Learning to wait

New Year's day was just quiet around the new Austin house, and a pretty comfortable place for relaxing.  Parades, football games, some pool, some guitar hero and then a great dinner at one of our favorite restaurants in Durham, Neo China.

Friday morning we hit the road to Atlanta and it was a nice drive.  Bojangles for lunch (yum).  We got to the house about 3:30 and our wonderful realtor, Laura, met us at the house with keys and a couple of nice house warming gifts.  We started to work around our new house, doing some cleaning and remembering what we forgot about the house.  Alli and Andrew picked their bedrooms, and share the jack-and-jill bathroom.  They have worked out the signals for sharing.

Rich and Kathy Daniels, with Kaitlin and Alex.  They got the tour of the empty house, and then we went out for dinner at a little Italian place just down the road from our house.  It was very nice - could easily be a place that we go to often.  Then we blew up air matresses and spent the night at the house, hoping for movers to arrive on Saturday.

Saturday arrived, but no word from the movers.  Eventually we found out that they would arrive on Sunday, but one day did not seem to be that bad.

Then Jack and Sue Briner showed up from Charleston, with Clarissa and Christopher.  Clarissa is considering a transfer to Emory in the fall and will be visiting campus on Monday.  They were hoping to be part of the fun of unpacking, but the house was quiet. We had a great time to catch up, and went over to the hotel they were staying at.  It seemed much nicer than sleeping on the floor, so we got some rooms.  Then went out for dinner at California Pizza Kitchen.

Sunday morning we were back at the house, but no movers.  Then we found out that they were stuck at the delivery before ours and would not be around until Monday.  Very disappointing, so we went out for lunch, and then some of us went to the movies and the rest went shopping.  The moving company agreed to pay for the hotel because of the delay, and we had more time with Jack and Sue.  Such a blessing to have them around.  Dinner at P.F. Chang China Bistro - really good.

Mover called and said they will be at the house with our stuff at 8am.  We have our fingers crossed...
