Allison got a letter from the school, and she has been accepted to go on a trip to Bermuda in May.  She had to write an application and go through an interview with the teachers that will be leading the trip.  There will be an orientation session in a couple of weeks where we'll learn more of the details.

 

 

She and the other kids will be staying at the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences, which is on the St. George's end of the island (#9 on the map).  They will be there for about a week, from May 28 to June 3. They will have a chance to do some science and some sightseeing while they are there.

More information when we get it.  As you can imagine, Alli is very excited, and some of her friends are going, too.

At the end of the vacation, we take a family photo -- here are the ones from Thanksgiving on Ocean Isle Beach.  Oh, and one picture of some of the restful weekend.

For Thanksgiving, we didn't go over the river and through the woods, we drove south to Ocean Isle Beach.  We left with Evan and Alli on Friday, had lunch with Andrew on Saturday in Buies Creek, and arrived Saturday evening.  Kathy, her mom Vera, and Kayla came down on Monday evening, and then John and Ben picked up Andrew at Campbell on Tuesday.  The house is on the west end of the island and is on the sound side -- really nice.  We explored around the island, played some golf and cooked a great turkey dinner on Thursday.  Here are some pictures of the fun.  There are also a couple of pictures of some of the erosion at both ends of the island and the houses that are being damaged.  And, of course, sunset at the pier.
