Andrew is now at Campbell University

Andrew is now a fighting camel!

After spending some time sorting through the things that needed to go to college with him, Andrew packed up the car on August 15th, and we hit the road first thing on the 16th.  A long day driving and we arrived in Chapel Hill, after dinner at Bojangles (the first of the NC cuisine of the weekend).  Friday was a day of shopping and banking, followed by dinner at Crook's Corner (including shrimp grits) and dessert at Locopops.  Saturday was move-in day, and the room was big enough for two aspiring golf professionals (Andrew's roommate is also in the PGM program).  Some final shopping and lunch at Smithfield's BBQ, then Andrew was on his own.  The rest of us got back into the car for a full day of driving on Sunday.

Here are pictures of the grand adventure.

Welcome home ceremony for the CT National Guard

Sunday morning the State of Connecticut welcomed home the National Guard units from their deployment in Afghanistan.  The governor came and spoke, awarded medals and shook hands (with Evan, too).  Here are pictures from the ceremony.

Jeff Turns 50

Yes, it had to happen and it was a pretty wonderful day.  My mom was in town for a visit and Jason and his dad were doing a wonderful job on the new front porch and lots of neighbors and friends came over for desert.  Here are some pictures of the festivities.

Mom went back to Columbus on Wednesday and then Evan and I went to a Yankees game on Thursday.  Hoped to see Alex Rodriguez hit his 500th home run -- instead the White Sox scored eight runs in the top of the second to "break the game open."  The Yankees then took their turn at bat and scored eight runs!  Record setting sixteen runs in the second inning.  Yankees lost, but we had a good time.
